Oral rehabilitation
Oral rehabilitation is a dentistry specialty in charge of diagnosing a patient’s dental problems and determining the treatments that should be carried out to restore function, aesthetics and restore anatomical structures due to the absence of one or more teeth.
For optimal oral rehabilitation, it requires working hand in hand with other disciplines of dentistry, such as periodontics, endodontics, implantology and orthodontics.
The main reasons why you may need oral rehabilitation are:
1. Root canal teeth: when there is a very deep cavity and it affects the nerve of the tooth, a root canal is required to clean the infection. After this procedure the tooth is left with a cavity and becomes fragile so it requires an oral rehabilitation treatment to be reconstructed and recover its function and aesthetics.
2. Fractured teeth – Bruxism or a severe blow can cause serious tooth fractures that require some form of oral rehabilitation treatment.
3. Loss of teeth: Being this the most complex, oral rehabilitation is required to get the treatment which can be removable prosthesis, fixed prosthesis or dental implants.
Metal-ceramic crown
One metal-ceramic crown is a total dental veneer cover made with a metal base and on it the ceramic veneer is placed. They are suitable in large dental destructions due to caries or trauma.

They are titanium screws which by means of a minor surgical operation are placed in the jawbone and replace the root of the absent tooth. The restoration is then placed on them, usually a custom-made crown which has the appearance and function of a natural tooth.
Fixed prosthesis
The fixed prosthesis is one that is performed to rehabilitate damaged or lost teeth, using natural teeth as pillars. They are fixed because they are cemented, so they cannot be removed by the patient. They can be for one tooth (crown) or for several (bridge).
Removable partial prosthesis and total prosthesis
The prosthesis full or complete dentures are removable devices that can be used to replace missing teeth. The partial prosthesis are similar, but are only used to replace some teeth. One total dental prosthesis care consists of a replacement of all the teeth.
